Why Urns?
Many people are just coming round to the idea of using Urns for ashes.  This is in line with current environmental responsibilities and the fact that cremation is a far cry cheaper than burial.  Naturally, burial or cremation is a personal choice but the benefit of a lower cost option which is ALSO kinder to the environment is a very attractive option. Many people are choosing to keep urns in their home.  There are many reasons for this including home being the best place to rest and to be close to loved ones.   For many it provides consolation that their loved one is always close even if they have to move.  For this reason many urns are being created in many different designs so that they can be displayed in the home.   More Details...

What is an Urn?
Urns are mainly used to preserve the ashes or other memorial items of our loved ones. There are many types of urns available in the market. Urns generally differ in size, shape and finish offering the purchaser a huge choice. Cremation urns can be stored in the chapel or at home. Some also prefer to bury the cremation urn. For those who wish to scatter ashes – there are also 'Scattering Urns' available. Cremation urns can also be kept at home and it is not necessary that they should hold ashes, instead they can house a memorial photograph, locks of hair or any other memorable item associated with the departed one. Most of the standard sized urns for humans offer a storage capacity of 200 cubic inches which is enough to house the cremated remains of an average adult approx 200lbs in body weight.  More Details...

FAQ' S

What size urn do I need?
In general, the cremains of 1 pound of weight can be housed in 1 cubic metre of capacity. Please see section on ‘Which Urn?’ for further detail.

NOTE: Cremated remains can vary due to different cremation processes, therefore please only use our guide as an estimate.

How do I transfer the ashes to the urn?
You will receive the ashes in some form of container either from the crematorium or funeral director. Place this container inside the urn and carefully release the ashes. It is advisable to have some assistance here. If this is something you are not comfortable doing- you could ask the funeral director to help you. If it helps, we can send your urn directly to the funeral director and the cremation ashes can be placed in the urn there.   More Details...
